Workshop “Tokenization of Assets and Rights” with d-fine on October 23, 2019 in Frankfurt
d-fine and the FSBC are offering a hands-on workshop all around the topic of tokenization on blockchains for SMEs. If you are interested and would like to participate, the next paragraphs will give you further information. If you want to apply as a participant, please fill out the application form (5 minutes).
What is the content of the workshop?
In the workshop, we address the following question: How can SMEs benefit from tokenization on blockchains? Tokenization describes the two-step process of (1) creating a digital representation of an (asset) value, including any contained rights and obligations, and (2) making it transferable. The tokenized value can be virtually anything, from a real estate project or a painting to platform usage rights to equity or debt.
A representation of these assets on a distributed ledger is established with a smart contract, a piece of software that can automatically execute contractual terms and immutably store the resulting state in the network. While the use of private keys secures transactions and value transfers on the blockchain, the link to the real-world asset usually poses a challenge, as oracles, trust, or risks of default and fraud remain, for both businesses and consumers.
In this workshop, we will talk about the necessary steps to take for successful tokenization, look at existing tokenization projects, and illuminate advantages and challenges in several examples.
During the team sessions, participants will then develop additional business ideas that can be enhanced or streamlined with tokenization. In a subsequent discussion, we will finally evaluate these ideas together, such that the different facets and key aspects of the matter become visible to all. Basic blockchain knowledge is required in order to participate in the discussions.
If this topic is of interest to you and you would like to contribute to EU policies and regulations for blockchain sign up below and join the discussion in our workshop. The results will be added to an EU report for our Blockchers project and presented in front of the EU to improve and reform EU policies.
Blockchers is a new Horizon 2020 project which will facilitate the revolution of distributed ledger technologies, DLTs, across European SMEs. We are managing a fund of 750,000€ aimed at financing real-world use cases across the EU of blockchain technologies in traditional sectors. We are monitoring constraints, issues, and difficulties SMEs are facing through the implication process of blockchain solutions. Read more here: www.blockchers.eu
